August 2009 was a busy time for SPS. Alongside servicing and remedial works at several major venues, and a major installation at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre we have also been busy preparing Burnley Football Club for its arrival in the Premiership Division.
We were approached to specify, manufacture and install the speaker support system for the emergency evacuation and crowd PA. Deadlines were tight – and once again we had to work day and night with our fabrication team to fulfil our clients need.
The restrictions on roof loadings at the club meant we had to consider carefully how to build the bracketry to minimise side loadings and weight, also bearing in mind wind loading, accessibility and suitability.
The speakers needed to be able to be retrospectively focused once installed, so the system was designed with adjustment in mind. The final finish was powder coated matched exactly to the RAL colour of the JBL speakers, and all paints and parts are designed with the weather in mind!
The installation was completed in two sections, but took a total of six days, with handpicked Special Projects crew from our full time staff and expert freelancers.
Burnley have had an excellent season so far – and we wish them the very best of luck for 2009/10!
