On behalf of our client we were briefed to supply and install lifting solutions for marketing spaces and theming of the building at festive periods. In order to meet the architects design brief we had to apply different solutions in the various locations.
In the central mall we delivered single suspension points with all elements hidden behind the ceiling cladding, accessed through a series of hidden inspection hatches. We were under strict instructions to keep the opening for the winch wire as small as possible in keeping with the aesthetic of the area To achieve this will developed a CNC milled brass top-hat shaped cover inserted in a steel sleeve, this is turn fits to the main beam work allowing a discreet opening whilst providing maximum protection to the wire and the building.
To conform to the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER 1998) we had to put all the mechanical machinery at an easily accessible location for maintenance staff. This was achieved using a diversion pulleys to bring the rope from the winch to the drop position.
At either entrance of the building stand a glass facade. At these locations the brief was to install a system that would allow Christmas light curtains or advertising banners to be hung with relative ease and lack of risk to the operatives. In these positions we installed colour matched chain hoists, bracketry and support systems.
Throughout the centre good old fashioned eyebolts were required for a multitude of retail and theming applications and we were happy to consult on the location, classification and specification.
