BBC Turn Back Time Road-show

In line with the enormous success of the BBC series 'Turn Back Time - History of the High Street' Special Project Solutions were approached by experiential marketing agency innovision to help them manage and realise a supporting roadshow in the run up to Christmas.

Project Manager Dave Green visited 3 vacant shop units in each of 11 different towns and provided detail drawings and space studies of each building to allow innovision to select which venue would be chosen in each location. Every shop unit had its challenges, some were small, others too large, some had power and water, and others were completely derelict!

Once the venues were identified we were able to understand the ultimate constraints which the scenic and exhibition items could be built under. Our design translation team then set about providing concise technical drawings from the original artwork that innovision had created. Many of the historical props were rented, but the majority of furniture and the exhibition units were built new specifically for the project at the Media Powerhouse scenic workshop in Elstree.

Dave Green also managed the project from a logistics point of view, drawing up transport and venue schedules for each leg of the tour and providing the extensive Health & Safety documentation required by the town councils in each location.

Once on the road Dave took care of 'Tour 1', visiting Truro, Clacton, Stockport, Paisley & Louth. Tour 2 visited Poole, Chatham, Wolverhampton, Sunderland, Bradford & Armagh.

The tour was an enormous success, reaching over 50,000 people in 6 weeks!
