SD Bar
The SD bar was our solution for John Lewis. Our client needed a method to display large format advertising, banners and Christmas decorations in the main store stairwell.
The major difficulty with the position was the total lack of overhead fixings, meaning we had no positions to suspend winches, or chain hoists above the area.
Tim Roffey designed a support system we call SD bar – the mechanism is supported from either side by stanchions on the cleaning walkways and relies on catenaries to support the banner pole. Using the winch mounted on the stanchions the client can raise or lower the banner bar, meaning that they can change the media, and set different heights themselves.
The system was installed overnight – and was tested, certificated and ready for use the following morning.
